Characters & consequence
Can Characters Die?
Yes — through your violence, your hunger, your choices, and your absence. The game keeps going either way.
OfficialQuest premise
Short answer
Yes. Characters can die through direct violence, through quest choices, through Coen losing control to hunger, and through you failing to intervene in time. Coverage reports you may kill any NPC you like and still complete the game.
Four causes
| Cause | Under your control? |
|---|---|
| Direct violence | Entirely |
| Quest choices | Yes, if you understand the choice |
| Hunger and loss of control | Only if you manage hunger |
| Delay and failure to intervene | Yes — inaction is a decision |
The one that catches people
Ignoring content is itself a consequence. The dangerous failure mode is not making a bad choice — it is spending five units on something else while a thread you cared about resolved without you.
Put the time-sensitive objective on the calendar first and build the rest of the route around it.
