Hunger and Feeding Explained
Blood heals. Losing control kills people. The gap between those two facts is the most consequential system in the game.
Pre-releaseQuest premise
Short answer
Vampire Coen heals by drinking blood. Animals can provide it, and the player can sometimes control how much is taken from a person. Failing to manage hunger can cause Coen to lose control and kill people — which permanently removes the content attached to them.
Three ways to feed
| Source | Cost | Risk |
|---|---|---|
| Animals | Time to find one | Low — no person on the other end of it |
| A measured drink | Consequences even when they survive | Medium |
| Losing control | Not a choice you make | A character dies |
Planning around hunger
Treat feeding as a scheduled action rather than something you improvise. A long night route is also a feeding problem: if you plan six night units of work, plan where the blood comes from at unit three.
The planner has feeding actions for both animal and human sources, so a night route accounts for its own sustain.
